iSortPhoto App Reviews

8 Customer Reviews:

Very quick and simple sorter, and good for the price. I would give it 5 stars if it also did MOV files. I take alot of videos on my phone and rely on them having sequential filenames with the photos taken around the same time. For example IMG_0001.JPG, IMG_0002.MOV, IMG_0003.JPG are probably all from the same event, so I dont want the JPGs renamed without the MOVs. Unfortunately the lack of MOV rename is a deal breaker for me to continue to use this. Also it would be nice to have a sort-only mode where it sorts in subdirectories without renaming.

Does not work

It lok great in app astore but on my computerwhen I drop pictures it shows "working" then "done" - but nothing is DONE

It does work as described

-however you need to make sure there is EXIF data in your files. Otherwise the program will not do anything.

Simple to use and does its job. There are a few features I think could be useful: - Option for sorting the pictures into new folders based on the date they were taken. For example, sort into folders by Year>Month or Year>Month>Day. That could be useful for sorting pictures collected from different cameras. - Do not rename files already sorted by the app previously, to handle the situation of the user running the same files through the app aain (yes, that can happen). - Theres a message that photos with no timestamp in Exif data will not be sorted - might be nice to be able to get a list of roblematic files/fodlers so that they can be treated manually.

DOES NOT WORK

An error pops up everytime I try to drag a folder in.

Very simple and easy to use. Just drag a jpeg or the folders into the app and it will auto delete the hole name and name it by default with the yyyy-mm-dd__hr-mn-sc.jpg You can ad a prefix to the beginning, a suffix or original name at the end as an option. The only thing I wish it did was give me an option to have the dashes as an option. Example yyyymmdd-name.jpg but thats ok. If I had to do it over again I would still download the app. Much easer than Automator.

What!?

Dont know why the ratings are so low. It does exactly what it needs to do and does it well. I use it all the time.

The app says it is supposed to rename photos to their date and time taken, and it does exactly that perfectly. Also you can add prefixes and suffixes, as well as make time corrections if your camera was off. Worth the money, if you have a newer MacBook the processing time for me is about 200 pictures per second. Great little app :) P.S. I’m running El Capitan, so it still works on newer OS X versions.

Life Saver

Had resized 750 photos from a 10-year-old trip. This changed creation date to the date of resizing. Was about to manually put them in chronological order, based on memory, and archive them. This app, batch restored the original creation dates/times and automatically sorted them properly. I the used NameChanger app to batch sequence and rename them. Slam! Bam! Thank you iSortPhoto.

One of the Best Apps

This app does exactly what it says. I organized over 30, 000 pictures lightening fast. I was able to sort them and change the name of each photo to how I wanted. Worth the money and glad I purchased it. Trust me, I tried almost all on the app store and this was the easiest. I also recently had a question and reached out to the developer and he responded within the hour and was very helpful. If your wondering if you should buy this app, I would say don't hestitate! Note: I would love to see a deduplicating feature added to this app. That's the only thing it's missing.

Works, Sorta

This app jumbled the order of correctly sequenced photos taken in a fast burst. Improved the sequence of most photos, but jumbled some. Be careful--there's no undo button or confirmation!

BRAVO!

Apple Mac OS X Finder displays 'Content created' for photos. Yet the sort options offered in finder do not include that as an option. It is a very valuable field and I cannot comprehend why Apple would not offer that as an option. I can only conclude that it was a conscious decision to exclude it. In any event, the sole purpose of this app is to accomplish that sort and it does it simply and elegantly. Bravo!

Not worth the time to test ...

Just renames all your photos w. the date shot ... No way to organize photos, not at all intuitive, no Help function, I think his friends did the reviews .. at least not too expensive to try and throw away ..

The Solution

I spent a few minutes on Google trying to figure out different automator actions and tricks to figure out how to sort images by Content Creation date sourced from two different cameras, and failed, miserably! I then chanced upon this App and am happy I bought it. It is definitely worth the money since it does exactly what it advertises, renames your photos by sorting them according to content creation date. This app is awesome.

amazing

Looking for ways to sort my thousands of photos, this has been such a helpful start. It was efortless and so quick, I got a head start on organizing them in seconds.

Not 100% Finder friendly

OS 10.10.5. After processing, the files shown in Finder are still the same. Also, they are like ghosts and cannot be Quickviewed, opened, nor deleted. Using terminal and taking a list of the folder’s contents, it shows the modified files. However, Finder needs to be restarted to reflect these changes. **EDIT** Now it’s working fine. That was weird. Might be me. Sorry for the alarm. I’ll report back if it happens again.
